Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure Program (SMBP)

Do you have high blood pressure or worried about having high blood pressure? The Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department has a self-measured blood pressure monitoring program. Through this program, the Health Department will loan a blood pressure monitor to anyone in need of keeping track of their blood pressure:

• To determine if you have high blood pressure

Or due to:

• Being recently diagnosed with high blood pressure
• A change in blood pressure medication
• Having problems controlling blood pressure

Monitors are usually loaned anywhere from two weeks to one month. Our public health nurse will provide you with a monitor and instructions on the correct technique for checking your blood pressure, as well as a log sheet to record blood pressure readings.
